A paradise for giving refuge to many exotic species of wildlife, I saw a tiger and a herd of elephants roaming freely in thier natural home. Operator gave us many valuable free upgrades and hotel booked was in the close proximity of the forest. We are thankful for the services rendered by "Discover activities", new delhi

This is an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of Bangalore. Our driver, Mr. Ranjith, went above and beyond. On the way there, my group wanted to make stops at tourist landmarks, and he was able to accommodate us while giving my brother in law a tour of all the vegetation in the countryside. The hotel was pretty nice for the area, and the food was good. Apparently, there is a troupe of monkeys that live on the grounds, and it was exciting to see them running around.

The safari started early in the morning, which is arguably the best time to do it because that's when many of the animals are out. It did not disappoint. The amount of biodiversity here is remarkable. There were too many animals to count. While we didn't get to see any elephants that day, we got really lucky and ended up seeing a Bengal tiger in it's natural habitat.

Notes for other Americans:

- This is rural South India. Conditions at hotels are pretty spartan compared to what we're accustomed to in the U.S. It's hot and humid. There are lots of mosquitos outside the rooms. Air conditioning isn't really a thing. Neither is hot water (not that you would want that in this weather). Just some things to plan around when you come here.

- Bring your own supply of bottled water or invest in a water filtration bag/bottle. The water that the hotel provides is in pitchers, but there was no way for me to tell where that water came from.
Tiger heaven and pristine jungle

Enjiyed a day into the woods. Elephants were moving around in herds. Special delight was sighting a tiger.
Amazing Place to Visit

I recently booked a trip through Discover Activities (DA) to visit Bandipura National Forest and Wildlife Preserve. I was in Bangalore and needed reservations for a driver, safari, and accommodations. The staff at DA was amazingly helpful in getting this scheduled and answering all of my questions. They booked me a bus tour, a room at the MC Resort (with three meals included) and a driver that ultimately took me to the airport in Bangalore after the trip. All of the steps went smoothly without issue. I have no complaints. There are some “know before you go” points:
1. MC Resorts has western amenities but it is rustic and I was the only westerner there. A big complaint (in reviews) is their lack of hot water. Realize the hot water gets turned on at 5:00 AM (you can ask). The MC resort staff is excellent and very helpful. Their English is not fluent, but you can communicate. The food was really good. I recommend the fried rice for dinner. There are other accommodation possibilities if you want more pampering.
2. The driver was excellent. He picked me up at my Bangalore Hotel and stayed with me the whole time. Realize you are not likely to have a driver who is fluent in English. Be patient and be specific about what you need. Bandipura is 4+ hrs from Bangalore, depending on how much you want to sightsee. It is close to 5 hrs from the Bangalore Airport.
3. There are three types of trips (transportation) in Bandipura: jeep, gypsy bus, closed bus. DA originally booked me on the 1 hour closed bus tour in the early morning. MC Resorts offers a gypsy bus tour (<2k INR), which I also booked once I arrived. This lasted 2.5 hrs (3PM till dusk). They both were great, but they are different. The gypsy covers more ground during the tour; the closed bus moves more slowly which gives you a chance to notice more. I am glad I did both. We saw, tigers, elephants, mongeese, sabas, peafowl, spotted deer, and lots of different birds. A highlight, was a day-old elephant calf and its mom and aunts. One aunt charged the gypsy to run us off. If you are looking, you won’t be disappointed. There are tiger paw prints everywhere if you look. The jeeps cover more of the reserve, but you are not as high-up in the vehicle, so visibility can be limited when in the woods. Apparently tiger breeding season (Spring?) is the best time to go.
