What To Expect

Dariya Daulat Palace - Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace
We reach the historical town of Sri Rangapatnam which was the capital of Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, in the 18th century. We will trace his life from the day he fought a tiger and killed it with a dagger, his brave battles with the British, his administrative and economic reforms and his pioneering usage of rockets in warfare. He is credited with being a pioneer in using rockets for warfare and the British later improvised on his technology during the World War I.

We visit Dariya Daulat Bagh, the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan. It is built in Indo-Sarcenic style and has a few magnificent murals depicting the war of Tipu with the British. The most famous exhibit here is the famous painting “Storming of Srirangapatna” by Sir Robert Ker Porter. The theme of the painting is the final fall of Srirangapatna on 4th May 1799 when the British defeat Tipu’s forces.

All of the best things in Mysore and nearby!

My family and I booked a 2 day tour with 5 Senses Tour group. From the first communication, I was well cared for. Responses to questions were very fast, customizations handled easily and the guide we were paired with was excellent. Communications were easy and I very much appreciated being put into contact with our guide well before our trip to establish a precise meeting location and I was appreciative of the tour operator to share a photo of our guide so we would know who to look for.

Shiva, our guide, was an absolute delight! He has a deep passion for Mysore and for its history. He provided the appropriate amount of historical information for all of the sites we would see. He was thoughtful in regularly asking if we had any questions and willingly shared cultural information to help us understand our surroundings even more.

One of our last stops when leaving Mysore was at a sweets shop where he bough some Mysore Pay for us to try. Don’t leave the city without trying it for yourself (if you love sugar, ghee and garbanzo flour). What a nice treat for us and thoughtful of our guide to share a local treat with us.

We had complete trust and faith in our guide, the tour operator and the plan they set our for us.

Highly recommend 5 Senses and Shiva. A wonderful experience, fantastic guide and great service throughout.
Great experience in Mysore.

Our driver Tipesh was very punctual and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the tour. The Royal Palace is a must-see experience, and Five Senses Tours arranged a very professional guide on site. Aside from the guided tour there is plenty of time to look around on your own.
Great way to tour South India

Great trip. It was very personalized. They picked me up and dropped me off at hotel. The tours had guides to give the personal experience at each stop. Everyone spoke English well. It was a great way to see top tour destinations when I only had one free day. Highly recommend.
An interesting journey into the past

This was an interesting tour. All ran to schedule, and local guides were ready at both venues where these were provided. Mysore Palace was the highlight and having a well-informed guide was very helpful.

Mohammed did a good job driving and filling in the gaps between venues. The southern Indian lunch platter was delicious.

It was a full day trip, and well worth the effort.
A Mysore Tour for the History Buff!

Bottom line up front: The tour was wonderful, and I look forward to booking more experiences with 5 Senses Tours.

I had a particular set of interests that are different from most tourists. Specifically, I was interested in the military history of the princely state of Mysore in general and the Seringapatam fort in particular. 5 Senses arranged a guide for me who knew the history of Mysore from the fourteenth century to independence, and was able to take me on a multisensory tour of the Anglo-Mysore wars of the 18th century. It was fantastic.

We managed to see all the main attractions such as the Daria Daulat Bagh and the City Palace, as well as experience the markets and Mysore pak.

5 Senses ensured that I saw the things that I wanted to see and the things I needed to see in order to fully experience Mysore.

I can't recommend 5 Senses highly enough!
